What farmers asked Market Watch this month

Every week on Market Watch, farmers call in with the same underlying question: what is my produce really worth right now?

This month, tomato prices dominated the discussion, with farmers in Kirinyaga and Kajiado reporting very different farm-gate prices for the same crate. Egg demand came second, driven by institutional buyers reopening after the school holidays.

The recurring advice from the panel: know your cost of production before you negotiate, and sell where the margin - not just the price - is best.
